What is Western Medical Acupuncture?

Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles; it is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine.

How much does it cost?

The first session costs £80 and all follow ups are £55 per session. Fertility acupuncture is discounted at £50 a session

How long is a session of acupuncture?

Appointments are 40 minutes long. This includes 20 minutes for the acupuncture.

Does it hurt?

Some patients feel little to no sensation, some experience a slight pinch where the needle is inserted and there may be some warmth, a dull ache or tingling.

Are there any side effects?

Generally there are none, however, a small minority may experience sleepiness/drowsiness, mild nausea, minor bruising around the insertion sites and fainting.

DRIVE SAFELY: Please note that acupuncture can be deeply relaxing, and you may need some time to recover before it is safe to drive. We recommend taking a short walk, getting some fresh air, and rehydrating before setting off.

What should I wear?

Loose fitting clothes that allow access to your knees and elbows.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person. It could be as few as one or two sessions.  However, most people find most benefit from 6-8 sessions.

I will carry out a thorough assessment of your medication and medical history prior to recommending a treatment plan.

Please note I will not be acting in a medical capacity whilst providing acupuncture treatment and will not be indemnified to make a diagnosis. So please be aware of this. If at any point I feel there is a medical need I will redirect you to your own GP for further medical care.

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy requires a minimum of 24 hours' notice.  Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be subject to a 50% charge of the total service cost.  I appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring timely cancellations.
